Department Announcements Open EnrollmentFlexible Benefits allow employees to pay less money in taxes and take home more income. Employees can set aside part of their income on a pre-tax basis for medical and/or child care expenses for the year beginning January 1, 2010 and ending December 31, 2010.
The administrator for flexible benefits is Security Benefits. This is an open enrollment. Employees will be able to sign up for flexible benefits including medical reimbursement and dependent childcare. Please note employees must sign a new form every year for medical reimbursement and dependent childcare. The maximum for both medical reimbursement and dependent care is$5,000.00. Employees should put either the payroll deduction amount or the yearly deduction amount on the form. The money will begin coming out of the payroll checks January 1, 2010. Employees have until March 31 of the following year to submit receipt forms for reimbursement for expenses incurred January 1 – December 31 of the previous year. Flexible Spending Accounts fall under the IRS’s “Use It or Lose It Rule.” If a member does not use all of the money withdrawn from their check for medical expenses by December 31 of each year the member will lose any money remaining in the account.
